Cookie Governance
Cookie Policy — Full Disclosure
1. What Are Cookies & Why Platforms Use Them
Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser when you visit. They serve a variety of purposes: remembering your preferences, maintaining authenticated sessions, measuring traffic volumes, and enabling certain interactive features. Unlike tracking pixels or browser fingerprinting techniques, cookies are a transparent and well-understood technology that can be inspected, blocked, or deleted using built-in browser controls available in every modern browser.
NomaWorld is designed around a privacy-first philosophy — the same commitment described in our Privacy Policy. As a free, open-access knowledge platform, our goal is to provide quality guides, interactive calculators, and educational content without subjecting readers to invasive tracking or surveillance advertising.
2. Cookie Categories We Use
2.1 Essential / Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are required for the core functions of the website to operate correctly. They cannot be switched off without affecting site functionality. Essential cookies on NomaWorld include:
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-auth-token | Administrator authentication session. Only set when admin user logs in. Not set for regular readers. | Session / 1 week |
| csrf-token | CSRF security protection for forms such as the newsletter sign-up and comment submission form. | Session |
| nw-theme | Stores your light/dark mode preference so the chosen theme persists between sessions. | 1 year |
The theme preference cookie is the only essential cookie set for general readers. It stores a single value ("light" or "dark") and contains no personal information.
2.2 Analytics & Performance Cookies
We use privacy-focused analytics to understand which guides are most useful, which search terms readers use, and how content performance evolves over time. This informs our editorial roadmap — helping us decide which topics in our Guides Library to expand or update.
Important: Analytics data is collected in aggregate. We do not store individual user profiles or link page view data to personal identities. IP addresses are anonymized before storage.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| nw-analytics | Aggregate page view counting; no personal data stored. | 30 days |
2.3 Advertising & Targeting Cookies
NomaWorld does not currently use advertising or behavioral targeting cookies. We do not deploy retargeting pixels, behavioral advertising networks, or cross-site tracking technologies. If this changes in the future, this Cookie Policy and our Advertising Disclosure will be updated to reflect the change before any such cookies are set.
2.4 Third-Party Embedded Content
Occasionally, articles embed content from third-party platforms (e.g., embedded video, data visualizations). Third-party services may set their own cookies governed by their own privacy policies. We link to relevant third-party policies wherever embedded content is used. We do not control third-party cookie behavior.
3. How to Manage & Delete Cookies
You have full control over cookies through your browser settings. The instructions below apply to the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Go to Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data. You can block third-party cookies, clear all cookies, or configure site-specific exceptions.
- Mozilla Firefox: Go to Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data. Firefox offers Enhanced Tracking Protection modes (Standard, Strict, Custom).
- Apple Safari: Go to Preferences → Privacy. Enable "Prevent cross-site tracking" and manage website data under the "Manage Website Data" option.
- Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Blocking the nw-theme cookie will cause your theme preference to reset on each visit. Blocking the sb-auth-token cookie will prevent administrator login (this does not affect reading or browsing the site).
4. Cookie Consent & Your Rights
Because NomaWorld collects minimal data and sets only essential cookies for general readers (plus an optional anonymous analytics cookie), our platform is designed to respect your privacy by default without requiring complex consent dialogs. However, you may opt out of the analytics cookie at any time by deleting cookies associated with this domain in your browser settings.
For questions about cookies or data privacy, contact us at privacy@nomaworld.com or visit our Contact Page. For broader data rights, see our Privacy Policy.
